Identify the materials containing lipids or carbohydrates that are placed on the demo desk. Try to be as specific as possible for the type of lipid or carbohydrate.
And no....you cannot eat the banana!!!
Next build a glucose molecule- make sure it is structurally correct. Be able to demonstrate a dehydration and a condensation reaction to make the disaccharide maltose and then sucrose. Next work with the rest of the class to make a giant starch molecule. What subtle difference makes this polymer different than cellulose? Why does this matter?
